Kilchoman Machir Bay is the flagship expression from one of Islay’s only independent, family-run distilleries. Established in 2005, Kilchoman is unique in that it operates a true “farm-to-bottle” model, growing and malting its own barley on-site. Machir Bay is a vatting of single malts matured in both ex-bourbon and Oloroso sherry casks, delivering a balanced profile that highlights the distillery’s commitment to quality aging and traditional production. The whisky is non-chill filtered and bottled at 46% ABV to preserve natural oils and body. Each release of Machir Bay is carefully crafted using copper pot stills and traditional floor-malted barley, a practice rarely used today. With a name inspired by the dramatic coastal landscape near the distillery, this core expression serves as a modern introduction to Islay whisky made with time-honored precision and transparency.
